Solar Bonus Scheme

EnergyAustralia supports residential customers with Solar Power Systems who qualify for the Queensland Government Solar Bonus Scheme. 

Under the scheme, EnergyAustralia will credit participating customers at 44 cents/kWh for surplus electricity fed back into the grid.

For information about the Connection procedure, please refer to the solar section of your Network Distributor site:

 Your solar installer or electrician will initiate the required metering changes with Energex or Ergon.  Once this is done, Energex/Ergon in turn will advise us and we will liaise with them on your behalf to complete the metering change.

  • For customers within the Energex Network Distribution Area, the cost of the metering change is free-of-charge for new premises or premises with standard metering configurations where the Solar Power System is being connected for the first time under the Solar Bonus Scheme. A charge of $150 (including GST) applies for customers with Solar Power Systems connected in a non Solar Bonus Scheme Compliant configuration who want to convert to the compliant metering configuration.
  • Customers within the Ergon Network Distribution Area, will need to contact Ergon Energy to confirm any costs for metering changes required.

Upon completion of the required metering changes your metering and billing information will be collected by our systems and the appropriate credit will appear on your next quarterly bill.
